Book Week Costumes – We’ve got you covered!

With just 3 week to Book Week it is time to get your costume ready and we are here to help you!

Each year, since 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought together children and books to celebrate Book Week. A time for schools and libraries to celebrate Australian children's literature. In schools, pre-schools and libraries this is most often celebrated with a “book parade”. An event where children select a book and dress up as a character from that story. As a nod to multimodal storytelling some schools also allow students to dress up as movie characters.

To make it as easy as possible we have created a set of 21 costumes with printable masks. With costumes generic enough to cover an entire library of picture books and novels you are sure to find something for everyone from the smallest pre-schooler to an entire school staff. Find masks and costumes here.

This one below is loosely based on Geronimo Stilton but it could just as easily be The Rats of NIHM, the Year of the Rat or this year's notable book Bear and Rat for which there will be activities very soon.
