Overview

A Notable CBCA Picture Book of the Year for 2020 this is a scientific based story of the birth and migration of the young short-tailed shearwater or mutton bird. A migratory bird this story traces the birth of bird number 625 in Australia and its migration to the Northern Hemisphere for the boreal summer.


Activities for this book include graphing the migration of the shearwater, a comprehension on bird tagging, the lifecycle of mutton birds, creating a poster to make people aware of how plastic is harming native birds, making an origami bird and creating an artwork based on the book.
